True, but the small market teams typically have at best a 2 year window to


compete before they have to sell off everyone and start over and hope to get another window in 4-5 years. The teams with money (Dodgers, Yankees, Red Sox, Cubs, Giants, etc) are essentially going to be contenders every year. They need to do what they can to level the playing field. As much as I hate communism, the NFL has it right. MLB is much like NCAAF at this point.
